Parker Sailing (November - May)

Now under sail! Email Mr. Young to get involved. Check back for new information.

Ah, the sun, the smell of salt water, the brisk breeze, the crunch of fiberglass against fiberglass . .. . Whether you're an experienced salt or an as-yet landlubber, sailing is one of the great experiences you can have as a Parker student. You'll start off as "shark bait" and work your way up to captain, all while studying sailing and racing technique from the pros.

Sci-Fi Forum (odd Thursdays)

Next book: Neuromancer by William Gibson

Rumors of the demise of last year's mascot, Skiffy, were greatly exaggerated and largely untrue. We watched The Matrix, The Thirteenth Floor, (endless) STTNG episodes, stuffed our faces with birthday cake, and debated the future of humanity. And that was just Thursday. Join this dedicated band as we explore all things Sci-Fi-ish.

Student/Parent Book Club

Next book: A Prayer for Owen Meany, John Irving

Meeting: Thursday, March 27, 7 pm

The book club is now under way for 2002-2003. We began with George Orwell's Animal Farm, record attendance, and a rousing discussion. If you are in seventh or eighth grade, are an avid reader, and love to argue with your parents, you may be invited to join this prestigious gathering. We generally make our way through one book per month and meet to discuss, praise, or dissect the selection. We haven't solved the world's problems - yet - but we have had some stimulating debates.

Creative Writing Club (even Tuesdays)

Visit the Middle Voice website

Love to write but don't get to do enough of it in your English class? Do essays leave you cold and wishing you could invent stories instead? Ready to have your work published in a format you can be proud of? This club is for you! We'll be writing short stories, plays, and poems in a comfortable, club-like setting. Round-table readings will follow for constructive criticism and creative inspiration. Finally, we'll publish the 2000-2001 edition of the Middle Voice magazine.
